FAQs

The following Frequently Asked Questions provide an overview of The Next Chapter Capital Campaign and what it means for Westminster Academy. As we build on more than five decades of faithful ministry, this initiative reflects careful planning, strong financial stewardship, and a clear commitment to strengthening student life, campus safety, and long-term growth. We invite you to learn more about the vision, the projects, and the impact this next chapter will have on our students, families, and future generations at Westminster Academy.

Why begin Phase One of The Next Chapter Capital Campaign now?

Prompted by our 50th anniversary and grounded in prayerful planning, Westminster Academy has developed a city-approved master site plan for future growth. Strong financial stewardship and healthy reserves position WA to move forward with confidence.

This is a timely opportunity. The land lease acquisition and strong momentum at Westminster Academy create a clear path forward. Beginning construction this summer maximizes efficiency and minimizes disruption while school is out of session.

What is the purpose of The Next Chapter Capital Campaign?

The Next Chapter Capital Campaign advances a strategic vision to strengthen student life, ministry impact, campus safety, and long-term growth—fully aligned with Westminster Academy’s mission, it is a blueprint for the future.

Phase One includes relocating and rebuilding the aquatic complex, constructing a perimeter road, adding a covered multi-purpose pavilion, and advancing North Campus development, including demolition and the Community Lawn. The hotel demolition has already enhanced security, and the new perimeter road will improve safety and create a more efficient, time-saving traffic flow.

These projects meet immediate needs while unleashing future expansion. With a projected Phase One cost of $18 million and strong early commitments secured, $3.8 million remains to launch construction. There is an urgency to begin this summer to maximize efficiency and minimize impact during the school year.

What campus investments has Westminster Academy made in recent years, and is the school financially ready for a capital campaign?

Over the past decade, Westminster Academy has reinvested more than $10 million into campus improvements while strengthening faculty compensation and operational reserves. Funding has come through unrestricted and designated gifts, the annual capital fee, and board reserves.

What is happening with the North Campus (former La Quinta property)?

The North Campus will house the future expanded Early Childhood program and fieldhouse. Initial improvements totaling more than $1 million—demolition, site development including parking, a community lawn, and a playground—are underway and expected to be completed by fall.

These additions allow us to invest in our youngest students and potentially double the size of the Early Childhood program. Beyond facilities, this property reflects Westminster Academy’s commitment to growth and serving the next generation while meeting near-term campus needs.

How does this campaign benefit my family and current or future students?

The Next Chapter Capital Campaign strengthens campus safety and security while supporting thoughtful enrollment growth for young families. Improvements such as enhanced traffic flow, updated facilities, and expanded early childhood capacity create a safer, more secure environment for students each day. Starting this summer will benefit current families by minimizing impact during the school year.

For current families, these investments enhance the daily student experience. For younger families, they represent a long-term commitment to a strong, Christ-centered education from early childhood through high school, ensuring Westminster Academy remains vibrant and sustainable for generations to come.

How will Westminster Academy approach this capital project, and how will families be engaged in giving?

Westminster Academy has assembled a professional team—including a land use attorney, site engineer and planner, architect, owner’s representative, and an experienced general contractor—to ensure Phase One is managed efficiently and effectively.

Completing Phase One quickly and visibly will show tangible results and create momentum for future phases. The School Board has already invested more than $1 million into the North Campus to begin demolition, site preparation, and community lawn and parking development. Families are invited to participate in this exciting journey, celebrating milestones and seeing their contributions directly impact students and the broader campus community. Our community’s generous response will determine the timeline. Plans and contractors cannot be unleashed without funding secured.

When will construction for Phase One begin?

Our goal is to be “shovel-ready” by May 1, with plans, permits, and contractors in place. Construction will begin once an additional $3.8M is raised, ensuring the project can move forward efficiently and responsibly.

How will Westminster Academy ensure a safe and seamless school experience during construction?

Construction will be carefully phased to minimize disruption and maintain a safe, orderly campus. Clearly defined work zones and coordinated scheduling will allow daily school life to continue smoothly.

Our experienced general contractor regularly manages projects on active school campuses, ensuring construction is handled safely and efficiently. Families will receive clear, timely updates throughout the process.

What is the operational structure and relationship between Westminster Academy and Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church?

Westminster Academy and Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church are part of the same corporate entity but operate as separate organizations with independent finances and governance. Tuition and fees fund the school, while church contributions fund church ministries.

The school and church share a historic and meaningful mission connection, with cooperative management of shared resources such as facility use. Most importantly, both organizations are united in their commitment to Christ-centered education and ministry.

Are there concerns about building and expanding facilities on land that is under a long-term lease rather than fully owned?

Westminster Academy had the generational opportunity to acquire the remaining 48 years on a 99-year land lease for 4.4 acres directly adjacent to our property. Acquiring the North Campus allows Westminster Academy to further enhance campus safety and expand its footprint. The initial plans will immediately add much needed parking, a field for PE classes and athletic practices, and a new playground.

Long-term plans involve more than doubling the size of our early childhood facilities, allowing Westminster Academy to grow organically from our youngest covenant families, and adding a multi-purpose fieldhouse which will include more gym space, a robotics and STEM area, and a new weight room. While our goal has always been to purchase the land, this is the first step towards accomplishing it. Building on a land lease is common, and all planned construction and student growth on the North Campus will account for the land lease expiration date.
